hey spring chickens!!  

it's almost time to see the coops hatched - the coopetition review + awards ceremony is only a couple days away.  it happens this tuesday from 11-1 at UWM @ the school of architecture + urban planning.  -  this is a public event so come join us if you can!  

here is the (s)coop:

on march 27th, beintween will celebrate the construction of 6 full scale, hand-built coops at the School of Architecture + Urban Planning in the commons + courtyard on UWM's campus.  the address is 2131 E. Hartford.  it happens from 11am - 1:00 pm.  this celebration will include teams' presentation of coops, a critique, and the awards ceremony; lunch will be provided, catered by localicious.  the coopetition will award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes, as well as any coops meriting honorable mentions. 
the schedule is as follows:
- 11:12:00pm, presentation: each team will be delegated 10 minutes for the presentation of their coops.
- 12:00-12:30pm, design review: panel of jurors will have a chance to critique the coops and ask questions.
- 12:30-1:00pm, lunch social: a fresh lunch catered by kathy papineau (of localicious) will be served.
- 1:00, awards ceremony: winning designs awarded, courtesy of generous donations by beans & barley, outpost natural foods, anodyne coffee roasting, home depot, and bliffert lumber!

all are welcome to join and see the coops.  three are already situated in the courtyard + are looking slick (other than just being wet).  cross your fingers the weather cooperates tuesday.  hope to see you all tuesday!

 

this coopetition, hosted by beintween and cream city hens, aims to raise awareness for urban agriculture, promote the reuse of salvaged/discarded materials, and challenges both designers and builders with a pragmatic + collaborative opportunity.  what else could you want?  how about some fresh eggs?  if you build it, they will come.
