Good to have you on beintween, Willie. Even better to have you involved with the pop up parks. Let's get together again soon. I am going to get a few of the images posted while watching the packers this afternoon. Im looking forward to seeing the footage we have soon. The guy who is setting up our kickstarter is headed back to Chicago @ 5:30. If its tranferred to DVD by then, give me a shout. Thanks again and again, Willie!

Glad to help out.I like what you guys are doing. I would love to stay involved with this project and any others you need help with. I'm happy to document, or lend a hand with labor, tools or materials.

I'm working on the video now. Need to know what format you prefer.

Thanks again for the invite. Look forward to the next get together. If you know the people running the underwear ride, find out if they would like me to document the ride on Thursday.

willie, i can't say what a blessing it was to have you be involved with this project, and how excited i am to continue to work together as we pursue the bigger piece of pie, namely the artery.

in regard to underwear ride, i've already spoke with steve roche, who is super excited to have you document this event.  he was the guy in the flannel with a pony tail at our install (you may recognize him on your footage).  he is also a member of beintween, if you wanted to comment on his page or had any questions.

there will be incredible opportunities to document this from the side of the road, but there are also usually three spots where the ride stops.  beginning, pit stop, and end.  details can be found here: http://mkebke.com/

the best spot will be on top of the capitol street overpass (on the artery), where we will all meet up.  there is usually about half an hour of us just saying hello and painting each others bodies, what have you.  i am linking several treads which will total almost 150' in length.  before we take off, i hope to have everyone place a hand under this continuous tread to lift it in a big circle, which should be about 40' in diameter (coincidentally about the max we can get from the width of the overpass).  i wanted to talk to you about setting up a tripod at the center of this and shooting 360 panorama.  sound good?  it would make a hell of a shot, and would be the next step from our iconic image taken when the artery was just a concept.

willie, this video is so well done!  how did you turn this out so quickly?  i am in total awe.

"I would like to post some pics and video from the bike ride and the after party to the mkebke site. How do I do this? Willie"

that'd be great! if you have them posted up somewhere, i'd be happy to cross-post and credit you on all of it. even if you have a write-up you'd like to include, even better! i want the site to be an open resource of information or contributing information.

are you making an edit from footage, or just posting raw? i'd love to see some from everything - the ride meet-up at the artery, shots from the ride, hubbard park (group shot, panoramic video/photos), and the afterparty. especially terror pigeon dance revolt! i know i saw you in there with your camera, ha.

if that's a lot to take on, i've been wanting to start learning and practicing more video editing and would love to either help or contribute somehow.

you can email directly at stevenroche@gmail.com

thanks again for being involved and being able to enjoy yourself at the same time, talk to you soon!

willie:

here's the prop for the photo shoot that i want to work with you on next:

matireal girls in a matireal world.

the tires again being the common element, but taking on another utilitarian role.  to give you a sense of scale, this one loop is 30 some feet long and 14" wide, and with the size of this loop, is a nice way to recline.   if you look up loopita, you'll get the idea of how this becomes a facing seat for two:

this one is super nice, but at a price tag of $10,000 euros.  our alternative cost us nothing but some sweat and my dewalt jig saw.

anyhow, the idea is talk about diversity - so we get two models of different ethnicites, not necessarily black and white that are on either sides of the tire, which is really in itself a statement.  i not only enjoy the crispness of black and white photography, it speaks in plain literal terms of the segregation we see east and west of holton.  the shoot celebrates the contrast with our eyes and hopes the entrendre causes us to recognize this it in our minds.

i built this with chocolate (rob) towards the end of the semester....and we underestimated our estimation for the keystoning to get it to stay upight.  my thought is we lay it out flat and jam shims in it until it works as planned.....there is already light gauge flat stock steel behind the wood to give it additional structure.  starting over is not easy because the screws are buried in this super thick tire, but i think we can get it set up.

we have a nifty wooden asterisk device to keep it in round while setting this up, but lateral support with a single loop was another the issue.  that's why i am calling my contractor.  maybe you have a solution.  maybe we find a two more trailer tires and get more scrap 2xs from the depot.

might be a good time to come check out that pole barn...

keith

fyi: below is the model for the type lighter luminaires i wanted to put on the overpass. that last F should be an 'e' of course.  i might talk try to engage a local design company that does a LOT of welding called flux to discuss the cost to fabricate these.  i imagined the big dilemna with these being how to anchor these into the bridge.  i am sure we would need some permits to do this, and ideally i'd like the two elements two be standalone but there is potential to gain some needed height and foundation if these were antennae as part of our container, or fillboard, as i like to say, and the down light from these luminaires (shaped like type writer hammers) could provide illumination for the intended graffiti of the container.....what are your thoughts?

Where is this tire prop? I'd like to take a look at it, I'm sure we can get it to conform to your will.

At 9:05pm on September 29, 2012, keith hayes said…

the tire prop is in my backyard.  maybe we can take a look at it tomorrow after we meet at the site.  please bring your quad copter to do a full video along the ARTery, as well as screws and a second drill, battery, or charger to assemble the sidewalls into receptacles.  i'll bring the trash bags.  i'll be at the site by 11 am, and will stop by home depot to look for those large rubber bands.

rob is going to meet us down there and we would also like to record a few minutes of conversation for use in the kickstarter, to make sure he has enough footage for the kickstarter draft which he will finalize this week...he heads back to chicago tomorrow early afternoon, so if its feasible, please bring your card reader.  when we go back to my place to look at the tire, we can download tomorrow morning's footage and send him back with all that he needs.
